To avoid the emotional
trauma that pain can leave one with, we must have a plan. Certain steps have wondrous results. First I find we must focus
on being active. Wash walls, clean floors, anything, just "participate"! Especially focus on doing things that bring you happiness. Second, interact. You must talk it out and then listen to and act upon good advice.
However, filter out the crap. Sometimes well meaning individuals give advice that isn’t necessarily right for you. Find
your best solution from amongst your many advisors. Thirdly, it is good to take a moment when you feel bad to close your eyes
and picture yourself somewhere beautiful. A pristine beach, the top of a mountain or anything your heart sees as ‘heavenly’.
The fourth incredibly important yet completely obvious point is don't burn your bridges. For instance one man believed his
wife was unfaithful. In his pain he lied to his wife and claimed he had been cheating on her. His wife wasn't cheating but
she left him over his comments.
On the subject of
pain...it's all fairly relative. I have had my share of it...I used to complain (guys seem to do this more than women; I think
men feel they need sympathy when they suffer),
I would be complaining and in would roll a wheelchair with a severely handicapped person. I would feel guilty for complaining
because this other person was obviously way worse off than I. So I have learnt to be content. Also, about pain, I believe
that pain can be an incentive or catalyst of personal growth. Due to my own suffering for instance, when I hear of someone
else's, I can easily relate to their situation. Even evil people are only trying to rid themselves of their pain
when they lash out at others. Their idea to ease their pain is give their pain to someone else. This doesn’t work at
all. It spreads pain but doesn’t cure the culprit of his. Rather it merely
darkens his own soul even further. Jesus was quoted as having said "Blessed are ye who suffer now for yours is the kingdom
of heaven" which can be a very comforting statement. Years ago I read a book " The Problem of Pain" by Watchman Nee which
is full of deeply wise observations; I believe is well worth the read. Anyway hope you get my point...maybe it can help you!
I hope so.
Few will have the greatness to bend history; however, each time a man stands up for
an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope...
and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current that can sweep
down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.

Fathers claim they are unfairly treated by the courts...

ROTTEN INSIDE and OUTSIDE...The northbound lanes of Hwy.
10 between Ray Lawson Boulevard and Sir Lou Drive were closed again after panels from the Brampton courthouse fell to the
ground. High winds blew the panels off the side of the building. The same thing happened two weeks ago. The road was closed
to ensure the safety of pedestrians and motorists in the area and was not to re-open until the winds died down and repairs
could be made, police said at press time.

Dear Honourable Madeleine Meilleur, 17/07/06
I believe I am being unduly harrassed by ODSP, and I can't take it anymore. Since first getting on ODSP(31/08/05)
I have been harrassed by staff almost every month by letters indicating I am under suspension.I believe I have been under
8 seperate suspensions!During a period of 10 weeks I was under termination without even my drug card. Sometimes they do not
tell me what they want, other times they make unreasonable demands. The latest and most unreasonable, is a letter dated July
7/06 (oddly, the envelope is postmarked July 6/06) with a suspension date of July 1/06, which does not even give me an opportunity
to provide whatever it is they are requesting,(which once again they have not even identified in the letter). Support payments
are such that I cannot afford a home phone and must rely on job centre phones where you get 10 minutes use. ODSP often leave
you on hold for over 40 minutes and I cannot stand there with my severe pains and without human response as well. I ask not
only for help in abating over-zealous personal harrassment, but also for you to procure an overview and revision of general
procedure that would hopefully relieve others of such persecution in the future. Yours respectfully, Mike Milne (ODSP file

The Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) is designed to meet the unique needs of people with disabilities who
are in financial need, or who want and are able to work and need support. Ontarians 65 years or older who are not eligible
for Old Age Security may also qualify for ODSP supports if they are in financial need.
The program has two components:
- Income Support; and
- Employment Supports.
Income Support
Income Support provides financial assistance and other benefits to eligible people with disabilities and their families.
This includes accommodation and basic living expenses, as well as prescription drugs and basic dental care. Other supports
and benefits that may be available include:
Other work-related, financial supports may be available to ODSP recipients.

We, the Coalition in Support of Indigenous Sovereignty, strongly object to recent and proposed government, court
and police actions regarding the sovereign territory of Six Nations of the Grand River.
These actions include:
•The
selling and leasing of lands that were never surrendered to private developers. •The impending enforcement
of an injunction barring Six Nations people from camping on their own territory in order to clear it for private developers. •Applying
Canadian tax law on the sovereign territories of other nations. •Refusal to acknowledge the legitimacy of traditional
community leadership and entering into legal agreements exclusively with band councillors and chiefs funded
by Ottawa and controlled by federal legislation. •Employing bureaucratic and unjust practices concerning the processing
of land claims. •Refusal of the federal government to negotiate on a nation to nation basis, thus permitting
the assumption of jurisdiction by the province of Ontario to evict Six Nations people from their land.
We oppose
any police action on First Nations territories. We furthermore call on the federal government to live up to its
treaty obligations and negotiate with legitimate community leadership from these territories on a nation-to-nation
basis in order to peacefully and respectfully resolve all disputes.

September 2003 OCAP Member Gaetan Heroux was witness to Intelligarde officers harassing a man at the corner of Dundas and
Sherboune. Metro police arrived at the corner, arrested and assaulted Gaetan, who was simply observing the situation.
Police did no investigating before arresting Gaetan who was well known to them for his decades of OCAP organizing in
Toronto's east end. Gaetan and the OCAP legal team filed suit against the Toronto Police for false arrest and
negligent investigation and assault. Today the cops offered a cash settlement for their heavy handed tactics- not wanting
to go through with a lawsuit that was bound to expose their illegal actions. Gaetan was arrested for being
a long time and well-known OCAP organizer at Dundas and Sherbourne and for asserting his right to defend his community from
police and security guard brutality. This money will be going into the daily work of OCAP and the continuing
defense of poor communities against police brutality and racist police practices. The lawsuit was scheduled to begin
tomorrow, Wednesday Feb 22- the trial will not be proceeding but we are asking people to join us at 10am 47 Sheppard

I have had all types of harrassment from them. It is getting to be out of control. As I travel by bus I am subject to the

message today indicates that they have decided to charge me $25 for being that 3 minutes late. I am on disability which they

In Brampton Peel Police were called to an assault and robbery
that sent one man to hospital after being pushed through a window, Friday 29/7/05. The victim Mike Milne a local heating contractor
had a 38 cm. shard of glass removed from his side. The treating physician said it was a miracle that Mr. Milne
only needed four stitches and that there was no internal organs damaged. The unknown assailant left with Mr. Milne's bike
and has been bragging of the event and even visited the scene at Grace United Church on Thursday Aug. 3/05. When police were
contacted they stated that their records show an attempted break and enter was all that had occurred on that day, and that
the investigating officer would be unavailable until the night of Sat Aug.5/05. Is it any wonder that crime is

abuse from P.R.P. Officer Brian Mickey |
Please consider this an officially lodged complaint against Officer Brian Mickey. In Brampton’s downtown
bus terminal Peel Police harassed me and my friend as we went about our way. This harassment escalated to the point that sent
me to jail on 30/10/05. The fact is I was a victim of abuse from Officer Brian Mickey. The officer said I was intoxicated,
yet I had only one beer earlier as I told him; and I definitely was not drunk.
Even when he put hand-cuffs on me he made them too tight and my one wrist is still marked and damaged. When I complained he
said “Tough”. I believe, due to his comments and behaviour, that Officer Mickey mistook me for a panhandler. However
perhaps he was stereotyping or what I don’t know; we were just arriving there to get a taxi at the time when we were stopped by this hotshot novice.
I find lately the police
are constantly harassing “street people”. Officer Mickey even stated that their orders are that they must “Clean-up
Downtown”. Excuse me last time I looked this is still a free country which many of my relatives paid for with their
lives to keep free. I don’t accept his right to abuse my rights.
Perhaps it was my suggestion that he will retire before they
see that any clean-up is impossible, that provoked him to arrest me. Maybe he thought I was being smart which I wasn’t
I not only believe this I see with my own two eyes what goes on. Other cities have tried to “clean-up downtown”
some are even killed for lets say “resisting arrest” for sure a lot of grief for citizens and lots of police paper
work, lots of time in court. Meanwhile they do nothing about the crack world that has turned our streets dangerous. No matter
if you put all street people in jail today, they will never run out of new people. Downtown’s everywhere is where lost,
traveling or wayward people end up… hey with Officer Mickey’s concept of policing maybe you could pull over buses
as they enter town limits, you know checking for possible “itinerates”. With police might being wasted on “possible
vagrants”, they are failing to “serve and protect in some other area more vital to the positive growth of Brampton.
Is it any wonder that crime is out of control when local police authorities go astray like this officer and others like
him. I have also noted that more senior officers seem to be a little better able to behave themselves, perhaps the latest
training doesn’t include human rights.

How terribly badly they have failed not only these young ladies, but our entire stucture of justice. It is my own personal

OPEN LETTER FROM STREET WISE
7/12/05(amended)
I have been recently been afforded a copy of the Brampton Community Forum report, compliments of the
Regeneration Outreach Program. Congratulations for their hard work and successful addressing of street needs!
I am appalled at the author for not including Street Wise on their mailing list. Even before reading the report, I must comment that
I have seen many reports over many years and what it boils down to in my opinion is; it is not the report that counts for
anything, it's only the doing that counts. I say this as there are decades old reports out there full of great
and high ideal recommendations (this report is not one of them), yet are still waiting to be implemented.
I will continue to study the report, but already I find it to be disturbingly lacking in any real street related solutions.
I find some parts to be actually libelous; while other parts to be disturbingly anti-street.
Objections:
A) We believe implementing Recommendation #8 to be just plain dumb; money should be given
to rooming-house owners! Rooming houses are mostly last resort options for the most critically marginalized people.
Rooming houses cannot be considered as solutions to housing problems. Rooming houses are mostly potentially lethal powder
kegs, filled with major opportunities for disaster. Horrible, horrible places. Whoever suggested Recommendation
#8 has never lived in a rooming house. Without trying to offend, the author should be sent to live in a downtown
rooming house for a month and report back to us (if they survive).*1 .The one thing that would most realistically improve
rooming houses would be to give roomers some substantial rights. Then, conditions that need attention such as heat,
hydro or even eviction could be addressed by the Ontario Housing Tribunal, already in place covering (quite well I must say),
people deemed to actually have rights. Most slum landlords are in it for the money. Bottom line. Most of them are wealthy,
far more than most. Please don't give them hard working peoples tax dollars.*2
B) As per my speech in May, our position is that Peel Housing is operating in an irresponsible
manner. Their figures suggest roughly 12,000 clients, with another 15,000 on waiting lists. However a more objective view
would be to see that they actually have about 28,000 clients, yet are ignoring more clients than those they are actually serving!
They should be forced to address this issue and help to a lesser degree all of these people!
As a good example of bureaucratic abuse of the marginalized, I personally have just received a letter from ODSP, notifying
me that I am suspended from benefits. I have only been on ODSP for 3 months, yet this is the second time I have been suspended!
The form letter gives no return ph.#, fax# or email #, nor does it even state a reason why I am suspended. Calling their main
line provides a 40 minute wait without any response. John Howard Society will not allow a disabled person to sit during this
wait and will force a hang-up after 10 minutes if someone else walks in to use the phone.
C) I have been misquoted in the report. Street Wise is a name elected by people identified as "homeless,
previously homeless and in imminent danger of being homeless do not even want the moniker "homeless" to used. Thus the name
Street Wise. Most of us are fairly street wise, you can never know everything, but to be "homeless" you better be somewhat
"street wise". I was elected to represent them. I consider it to be an honour that I must properly represent. We were never
given the option of a slide show representation which while hopefully only an awful oversight was mitigated by our fore-thought
to provide a written report. A digital copy was later provided to Ms. Moore. There are items listed as belonging to Street
Wise which we never stated as being our position. How did this happen? What is the proper response? Will all marginalized
people find and respond appropriately? The answer is regrettably no.
Conclusion:
Throughout my address was an
underlying theme of the system is wrong, let us help fix it and trust is low. It is not noted who wrote the entire report.
It appears that Ms. Moore is responsible for the first three pages, but whoever put this whole thing together has some very
serious questions to answer. Also, this report does nothing to boost street confidence.
Even my own personal quest
of getting roomers rights has not been adequately responded to, let alone addressed through my many pleadings over the
last several decades at all levels of government. Exactly like a recent CBC banner hoisted for recent federal Liberal
disasters,
we
echo the same chant for the writers of such reports as this…
from Mike Milne
*1 Look at the number of police,
ambulance and morgue calls that come from rooming houses! Trust me there are lots (too many), and it's a miracle that there
are not more! People with addictions and other major issues end up in rooming houses.
*2 To me, we are all stewards of our individual gifts responsible and accountable ultimately not only to our creator,
but also to the history or epitaph (if you will) of mankind. There is far too much money wasted on either ill-conceived
notions or maligned views of self-rewarding arrogance. Regretfully, I observe that mankind throughout history has mostly sided
somehow with these latter two options.

Regeneration". Everybody who attended was asked to offer ideas for inproving the 'homeless and street issues. It was
a very animated affair with lots of great suggestions and some issues to address in the near future. Transit, lockers,

Below find expanded speech notes
We need protecting. Government agencies, police, media,
poverty and idleness are all conspiring (knowingly or unknowingly is irrelevant) to bring us grief. Many street people
stand on the breaking point. For sure unwise, unhealthy and ill-conceived actions by street people will not only bring the
individuals greater problems but assuredly cost society more in general with health and law services being major players.
NEED: #
1) to be heard and provide input
SOLUTION:
have regular scheduled info sessions includes the social, medical etal with street people (people will change but the issues
will not)
NEED: #2)
to be treated fairly by police and not mistreated because of our circumstances
SOLUTION: encourage
law officers to back off on heavy handed tactics like the recent St Andrews incident and the drawing of guns on
a schizophrenic incident.
NEED: #3)
– Ending the Cycle of Homelessness. Amend the roominghouse law. So many people end up on the street over that one law.
They lose possessions and rent money to slum landlords who act without impunity SOLUTION – it could be established
that any rooming house eviction would include a next day visit to file papers stating refund/possessions agreement signed
with tenant. Simple, just and profoundly reducing homelessness
NEED: #4)
- Shelter dwelling is not a practical response to the homeless problem. No-one can feel ‘secure’ in such a place.
(Editors note barred from a shelter should only be an extreme measure i.e. court order.) When kicked out of a shelter
you need a safe place to go, and a way of appealing the decision of a suspension from the shelters.
SOLUTION- a 2 tier shelter system
NEED: #5)
reduce the “agency runaround”, getting message machines, chasing documents, filling forms that agencies could
simply share internally ( not all files, just documents like SIN or divorce certificate which presently clients must
run around after.
SOLUTION-
agencies share information
NEED: #6
OW allowance is irresponsible, less than $12,000 income erodes a person's health more than smoking, drinking or lack
of exercise, a Statistics Canada study suggests.
SOLUTION- OW and ODSP will pay clients
up to $250.00 monthly for dietary supplements. This is something which OW does not tell their clients is available to them;
make this known to clients, there is 6 pages of dietary subsidies, for instance page 3 allows..$131 for a gluten free diet,
this money would solve a lot ill-health that one experiences on the street.
NEED: #7continuity
(cohesion) of services ( often many outreach teams but with insufficient emergency help) a) sleeping bags b) toiletries c)
Y day passes
SOLUTION
outreach teams need to co-ordinate with each other and provide realistic items….. In summer street people need sun protection,
bug repellant
We cannot
be 'swept under the mat'! To implement harmony with street people we suggest adopting some of the criteria from other
successful projects like the Woodwards project going on in Vancouver.

Ms. Olsen,
7/11/05
The court ordered access is still not being implemented. I have now missed another milestone, my childs
birthday just came and went. One of Ms. Mardons comments to me was she gets sued frequently, which
was not only an odd, unsolisited comment, but from your question, suggests she is looking for defence material by asking
for my email to you. What has my email to you got to do with providing the access that has been agreed upon by the contract
her company issued to me? I agree that she may share with you the emails I to sent her, not the ones I sent you. Even
you ( in my opinion) are acting oddly as a) you have not shared with me what was discovered through your talk with her;
b) no alternative has been suggested or offered (as you know depriving a child access to parents is a form of child abuse),
c) not followed up on our situation.
In the past CAS even say they "LOST" a report from interviewing my child about maternal abuse.
Your recent response and lack thereof does nothing to quell my suspicions of incompetence.

Previous correspondance.... I phoned Peel CAS in early Setember and was told by response line
that I would be called back, which has not happened .In June Peel CAS handed over my court appointed supervised pick-up and
dropoff access to a new management group called York. Syb Price was in charge at the time but I have ended up without my access
ever since. Surely somebody should be overseeing the transition. The original York contact (Jenn) was fired and then more
poor organizational skills by an Ashley continued until a Ms. Suzanne Martin flew off the handle when talking to me after
a 10am notice of 1130 visit at an unknown address was not received by myself and so she determined me unfit for their program.
Can Syb or an equal look into this matter? It is now October and I have not seen my child since June. My name is Anna Olsen. I manage the Peel Children's Aid Society's access program for our agency clients. I received
your email and have contacted Suzanne Mardon with the Supervised Access Program. Do I have your permission to forward your

Dear Anna, Thanks for your response, Suzanne Mardon is the woman who has terminated her

Muslim Jokes are just that, jokes. Terrorists are trying to manipulate what we can and cannot do or say. They have
won when we submit to their infringement on our freedoms. We have lost when we act out of fear. Yes, one may kill me for publishing
this, but my own belief in freedom of non-violence allows me to promote humour on the aburdity of their principles.

The Christmas Star
Jupiter shone so bright one night
As it rushed to meet his love. Venus and he appeared as one in June of 2 B.C. He moved through the skies to Regulus;
as they met magii inferred a global event. Their books said a holy marriage, a royal birth. Jupiter stopped its voyage and
hung for six days without moving, a sign that they must answer. They followed its light to Bethlehem where it blazed directly
overhead. On December 25/02 it began its natural path again. Nine months later Jesus Christ was born.
In the evening of June 17, 2 BC, there was a spectacular astronomical
event in the western sky. Venus moved eastward seemingly going to collide with Jupiter. They appeared as one star, not two,
dominating the twilight of the western sky in the direction of Palestine. This conjunction had not happened for centuries.
Jupiter was considered the Father, Venus the Mother. Then 19 days later, on August 31st Venus came within . 36 degrees of
Mercury. On Sept 11 came the New Moon, the Jewish New Year. This happened when Jupiter, the King planet was approaching Regulus,
the King star. Further, there were three conjunctions of Jupiter and Regulus within the constellation of Leo, the lion which
was considered the head of the Zodiac. Now Gen 49:10 had foretold there would always be a ruler from Judah, whom Jacob called
the lion, until the time of the Messiah. Leo was dominated by the star Regulus, which astronomers called the King Star. The
Magi, being astronomers and astrologers, would surely read these signs. (The three conjunctions with Regulus were Aug 12,
3 BC; Feb. 17, 2 BC, and May 8/9 2BC). Also, on Dec. 25 of 2 BC, Jupiter stopped for 6 days over Bethlehem. This is a normal
motion for Jupiter, it stops twice, and reverses its seeming movement. This may have been the very time the Magi came with
their gifts. Martin thinks the birth of Jesus was in September 3 BC, and the probable date of the Magi was Dec. 25, 2 BC.
In this undated photo provided by the National Museum of Ireland an ancient book of psalms is seen at an undisclosed
location. Irish archaeologists Tuesday heralded the discovery of an ancient book of psalms by a construction worker
who spotted something while driving the shovel of his backhoe into a bog. The approximately 20-page book has been dated to
the years 800-1000. Trinity College manuscripts expert Bernard Meehan said it was the first discovery of an Irish early medieval
document in two centuries."This is really a miracle find," said Pat Wallace, director of the National Museum of Ireland, which
has the book stored in refrigeration and facing years of painstaking analysis before being put on public display."There's
two sets of odds that make this discovery really way out. First of all, it's unlikely that something this fragile could survive
buried in a bog at all, and then for it to be unearthed and spotted before it was destroyed is incalculably more amazing."He
said an engineer was digging up bogland last week to create commercial potting soil somewhere in Ireland's midlands when,
"just beyond the bucket of his bulldozer, he spotted something." Wallace would not specify where the book was found because
a team of archaeologists is still exploring the site."The owner of the bog has had dealings with us in past and is very much
in favor of archaeological discovery and reporting it," Wallace said.Crucially, he said, the bog owner covered up the book
with damp soil. Had it been left exposed overnight, he said, "it could have dried out and just vanished, blown away."The book
was found open to a page describing, in Latin script, Psalm 83

Tibetan Freedom Torch Marched Through Toronto During Worldwide Trek To Tibet
Protesters gathered outside Toronto's Chinese Consulate for a march with the Tibetan Freedom Torch -- the
symbolic foil to the Olympic torch, which made it's final stop in Canada before continuing its worldwide trek to Tibet. About
150 supporters marched through downtown Toronto in the rain to add their voices to the chorus of worldwide support to have
Tibet freed from Chinese control. The torch began its global tour in March in Athens and Olympia, Greece -- the site of the
first Olympics Games -- and will eventually stop in 50 cities before reaching Tibet on the eve of the Summer Olympics in Beijing.
Palestinians furious about an editorial cartoon stormed a building housing the Danish Embassy
in Indonesia and threw a bomb at a French cultural centre in Gaza City on Friday. The fresh outbursts of violence were in
response to the repeated publication of the cartoon by other newspapers throughout Europe in a show of solidarity with the
Danish newspaper that originally printed it back in September, and to promote freedom of expression. Some Muslims consider
any images of Mohammad to be blasphemous. These cartoons are much less offensive than what is routinely printed in every American newspaper about presidents,
presidential candidates, and other pols. Yet strange as it may seem to Western non-Muslims, the rage over them seems to grow
with each passing day — until the global scale of the response to it has now involved ambassadors from many countries,
the United Nations, international boycotts, a nd the threatening of utterly innocent businesspeople and embassy personnel.
RINGS REVERB... fans from around the world have descended on
Toronto to see early performances of The Lord of the Rings, the most expensive musical in history. (Previews begin
Feb. 4, two days later than planned; the gala opening is March 23.) The stage version of The Lord of the Rings will obviously attempt to
appeal to regular theatregoers. But in order to recoup its $27 million price tag and potentially extend the show to New York
and London, the musical also needs to have the cultists on side.

Isiah Ch.59...No-one sues righteously, no-one pleads honestly they trust in confusion, speak lies; conceive mischief and bring forth iniquity. They hatch adders eggs, weave a web… a snake breaks forth hastening to shed innocent blood, they do not know peace, justice is far from them, thus righteousness does not overtake us. Yet, He will bring recompense to His enemies. After 32 years as a devoted fundamentalist Christian
I quit being religious. Why? The Bible. I was quietly doing my daily scripture reading in 2006 when I noted the impossibility
of one event that is said to have occurred. "The sun moved back in the sky 10 degrees" to show king Hezekiah he was okay.
Well without a degree in physics I still cannot see this actually occurring. I beleve that the lack of gravity would cause
the earth to go flying off out of its orbit. All sorts of other wierd side effects would occur. In other words even a very
Big God would have all kinds of troubles if he did this. Astronomy teachesthat the Big Bang was a four dimensional event that
infers a larger 5 dimensional environment. If so perhaps there is a Very Big Entity, and It dwells there. I like to think
of It as somewhat like a Buddistic "Force". Whatever the case I am confident It does not want or need your money nor devotion.
2 Kings 20:8-11 speaks obscurely about "the shadow" moving "ten degrees" during the above mentioned illness
of Hezekiah (as does Isaiah 38:7f). new Bible translations use "the sundial of Ahaz," while other Bibles "the stairway of Ahaz," he states that the original Hebrew text
says ma(c)alóth, the plural of ma(c)alah. it had a double meaning: while it refers to the steps over which the
shadow has already passed, it may have meant the instrument (?) of Ahaz which had obviously contained more than ten units,
and on which Hezekiah could observe the movement of the sun's shadow. But whatever was the original meaning of the Hebrew
word, Ponori-Thewrewk says, the shadow had made an abnormal movement on it. He imagines a pole or gnomon that casts a shadow on a plane that is perpendicular to it. The shadow can move ahead for a while, then it can move backward
on that plane, Davis dictionary of the Bible confirms the possibility that 2 Kings 20:11 and Isaiah 38:8
may be explained by a solar eclipse, and the stairway of Ahaz may have been a sundial with a projecting gnomon to cast a shadow. The foretold backward position of the sun's shadow, could have been caused by an eclipse of the sun, probably
on May 6, 724 BCE. This eclipse took place between 6:09 and 8:24 a.m., its maximum was 64.3% at 7:15 a.m. This would then date Hezekiah's
first year as king to 738 BCE, and his last to 709 BCE. It is possible that Isaiah (38: 7-8) had been informed beforehand
by an astronomer, perhaps by one of Merodach-baladan's envoys, about the expected date of a solar eclipse on May 6, so Isaiah comforted the king on May 3.

Believers in intelligent design say the implication of that complex design is obvious: there has
to be an intelligent designer at work. God isn't specifically mentioned by name, but most of intelligent design's supporters
invariably believe the designer to be the Christian God. Michael Behe, an American biochemistry professor whose 1996 book
"Darwin's Black Box" laid out the argument for intelligent design. "Cells are simply too complex to have evolved randomly;
intelligence was required to produce them."

There’s the tale from Luke’s Gospel of Zaccheus, a diminutive and despised tax collector
who, eager to see Jesus at a busy gathering, is forced into the attention-grabbing indignity of scrambling up a tree. Or the patriarch Isaac, whose name comes from the Hebrew word for laughter because of the joy and disbelief
his birth brought to his aging parents, Abraham and Sarah. Novelist Umberto Eco, a noted semiologist,
or expert in the interpretation of symbols, explored the theme in his 1980 book “The Name of the Rose,” a detective
story set in a monastery during the Middle Ages. The tale — also made into a 1986 movie — is about a murderous
conspiracy to hide from the world a treatise on laughter by Greek philosopher Aristotle.

City of Brampton Reduces Power Use and Encourages Residents
to do the Same
Due to the recent heat wave and record electricity consumption in
Ontario, the City of Brampton is complying with the Independent Electricity System Operator’s (IESO) appeal for reduced
power use by setting all thermostats in City facilities at 26 C. The
City is asking all residents to practice energy conservation, particularly between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., the peak consumption
period.Residents and businesses can reduce the demands on the electricity
system by:
- Turning off all but essential internal and external lights
- Setting air conditioners to 26 C or higher, or using fans as an alternative
- Closing curtains and blinds to keep out the sun and retain cooler air
inside
- Delaying the use of major power-consuming equipment such as dishwashers,
washers and dryers and swimming pool pumps until after 8 p.m.

FORBIDDEN FRUIT IN PARADISE!
WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) -- Two-time
Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank has been fined for bringing forbidden fruit into New Zealand, after getting a thumbs down
from judges in an appeal, a court said Wednesday.Ms.
Swank was issued notice of a fine for breaching New Zealand's strict quarantine laws when she failed to declare an apple and
an orange while arriving at an airport on January 15 on a flight from Los Angeles, but appealed the penalty to a court. The
Manukau District Court on Wednesday advised the country's Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry that Swank's appeal had been
rejected and that she had been fined NZ$200 ($142) plus costs of NZ$30 ($21). Swank, winner of the Best Actress Oscar for
her role as a boxer in Clint Eastwood's "Million Dollar Baby," had written to the ministry seeking a court hearing to have
her fine expunged. "After my 20-hour flight I simply forgot I had one orange and one apple. I do apologize sincerely," she said in her handwritten letter.sincerely,"
she said in her handwritten letter.
.$250-million sponsorship program
It is shocking that during a recent survey 30% of people polled were unaware of the Adscam Iquiry. Last week Justice John

announcement came after lawyers for former federal bureaucrat Chuck Guite and advertising executives Paul
Coffin and Jean Brault argued that publication of the testimony by the defendants could taint potential
jurors in their upcoming criminal trials which are scheduled to begin on May 2, after the three defendants appear before
the inquiry, which is probing nearly every aspect of the $250-million sponsorship program

THE BIBLE ...PROVIDING WARNING!!!
JEREMIAH CH.25 V15-38 SPEAKS ABOUT NOW!!!
THE RULERS AND THE RUMOURS
or
Judah is not forsaken, her blood be upon thee
A wind will blow against the
bow;
against the man who bends
it.
Isreal is not forsaken,
Judah is precious still!
the Lord on high smites the
thigh,
the destroyer now He fills
with the wine of His indignation,
bitter poison the evil drink.
Into the mire, as they conspire.
Babylon will sink.
Even unto heaven, rises the judgement call:
Flee from her His Precious,
Babylon will surely fall.
"I will fill thee full of dead men"
the Maker of the world proclaims,
every mans knowledge is stupid,
says the Maker of lightning and rains.
So Babylon be wary,the days of troubles arrive;
if you would only be healed today,
all would then survive.
But you carry on your plunder,
My peoples blood does flow;
so the Lord Himself will stop you,
to pay pay back what you owe.
The Lord is coming down
to tread on earths high places.
For our rebellion, His anger brings
fear to many faces.
But, rather than destuction,
rise up now and leave,
all your sins and idols,
and in Jesus's word believe!
His word is good to the upright,
but not to the robber and thief,
who prey on the unsuspecting
and cause the innocent grief.
So, now comes the vengeance,
the fire of God will descend.
Though rich from years of plunder,
what good will it do in the end?
The Lord will smash rebellion,
and gather the Remnant to go;
Jesus their King is leading,
their way the Lord will show.

God's BoxesI have in my hands two boxes, Which God gave me to hold? He said, "Put all your sorrows in the black box, And all your
joys in the gold." I heeded His words, and in the two boxes, Both my joys and sorrows I stored, But though the gold became
heavier each day, The black was as light as before. With curiosity, I opened the black, I wanted to find out why, And I saw,
in the base of the box, a hole, Which my sorrows had fallen out by. I showed
the hole to God, and mused, "I wonder where my sorrows could be!" He smiled a gentle smile and said, "My child, they're all
here with me." I asked God, why He gave me the boxes, Why the gold and the black with the hole? "My child, the gold is for
you to count your blessings, The black is for you
to let go." We should consider all of our friends a blessing. Send this to a friend today just to let them know you are thinking
of them and that they are a joy in your life. A ball is a circle, no beginning, no end It keeps us together like our Circle
of Friends. But the treasure inside for you to see,Is the treasure of friendship you've granted to me
Kansas to hold hearings over teaching creationism.
Topeka, Kansas
Eighty years after the Scopes Monkey Trial, Board of Education members plan to hear arguments
over whether they should add information on a form of creationism to Kansas' science standards.
The board's committee on science standards agreed Monday to have hearings in May in Topeka. The committee,
concerned that the hearings might be compared to the 1925 trial of high school science teacher John Scopes. Evolution says
that species change in response to environmental and genetic factors over the course of many generations. Intelligent design,
a form of creationism, holds that there's evidence of an intelligent design behind the origin of the universe,
the formation of the Earth and biological change.
Opponents of injecting more criticism of evolution into science classes contend it would be a step toward
teaching intelligent design or creationism, which holds life
and the Earth were created by God from nothing.
If you are decide to become vegetarian, become knowledgeable about your food choices. Include legumes,
soy and lentils in your diet. Hummus, beans dips, lentil salads or veggie burgers are tastes to try. There are lots of interesting
foods to buy like vegetable burgers, vegetarian burritos, meatless lasagna, lentil soups and falafel. Eat two to three servings
of dairy products a day. Cheese, yogurt and milk add valuable calcium, vitamin D and protein. If you aren't drinking milk,
drink calcium-enriched soy or rice beverages. Eat your five to 10 servings of fruits and vegetables, the more colourful, the
better. Eating those rich in vitamin C rich (oranges, berries, kiwis, peppers) with fortified breakfast cereals improves the
absorption of iron that's in the cereal.
Your food choices are personal and it's important to find the path that works
best for your beliefs and your well-being.

Mike, you are a force of nature!
Great work my friend! In one day, a great, well-written letter
about the problems at the Knights table, then that call.
Bringing up the crack problem in Brampton on the TV show
was a fabulous idea. I was gleeful. Good work.
And it IS an epidemic.
What to do about it? Can we make parents aware?
CAn we try again to get together?

LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
Dear Editor 19/07/05
Amongst
the many wrong things I see with our community is
1)the
mindless (and may I say needless) waste of electricity that should be addressed. Enclosed is a letter I sent to the mayor's
office and parks and rec. dept. of our fine city which has received no response..
2)
I would like to see our city institute a regular pick-up day of hazardous waste such as paint, batteries, oil etc.. It
would help control the poisoning of our fair planet and could prove to be profitable as well.
Sincerely
Mike

I had to write. In this weather I find it idiotic that all of our rec. centres have their saunas
on. In this weather they should be closed due to its stupid to sit in a sauna when it is 40c with the humidity factor outside.
Especially now with the power use reduction in effect, (see the City issued advisory
below). Please respond by email or ph. 4167604755

City of Brampton Reduces Power Use and Encourages Residents to do the Same
BRAMPTON- Due
to the recent heat wave and record electricity consumption in Ontario, the City of Brampton is complying with the Independent
Electricity System Operator’s (IESO) appeal for reduced power use by setting all thermostats in City facilities at 26
C. The City is asking all residents to practice energy conservation,
particularly between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., the peak consumption period.Residents
and businesses can reduce the demands on the electricity system by:
- Turning off all but essential
internal and external lights
- Setting air conditioners
to 26 C or higher, or using fans as an alternative
- Closing curtains and blinds
to keep out the sun and retain cooler air inside
- Delaying the use of major
power-consuming equipment such as dishwashers, washers and dryers and swimming pool pumps until after 8 p.m.

I just came from a meeting on 'the street' where I gave
a speech that may have been good,at least according to some of the folks. The only stress as being street rep. is
they all might try and jump me after breakfast if I don't get it right so no pressure.....
here is a copy of the handout I gave to service and faith
communities
Streetwise contact us at spreadtheword75@hotmail.com
We
need protecting. Government agencies, police, media, poverty and idleness are all conspiring (knowingly or unknowingly is
irrelevant) to bring us grief. Many street people stand on the breaking point. For sure unwise, unhealthy and ill-conceived
actions by street people will not only bring the individuals greater problems but assuredly cost society more in general with
health and law services being major players.
NEED: 1) to be heard and provide input
SOLUTION: have regular scheduled info sessions
includes the social, medical etal with street people (people will change but the issues will not)
NEED:2)to be treated fairly by police and not mistreated because of our circumstances
SOLUTION: encourage law officers to back off on
heavy handed tactics like the recent St Andrews incident and the drawing of guns on a schizophrenic incident. NEED:3) – Ending the Cycle of Homelessness. Amend the rooming house law. So many people end up on the street over that one law. They lose possessions rent
money to slum landlords who act without impunity SOLUTION – it could be established that any rooming house eviction
would include a next day visit to file papers stating refund/possessions agreement signed with tenant. Simple, just and
profoundly reducing homelessness NEED:4) - When kicked out of a shelter you need a safe place to go, and a way of appealing the decision of a suspension
from the shelters SOLUTION- a 2 tier shelter system NEED:5) reduce the “agency runaround”, getting
message machines, chasing documents, filling forms that agencies could simply share internally.
SOLUTION- agencies share information,
use technology to make changes in real time like banks do. NEED:6) OW allowance is irresponsible, less than $12,000 income erodes
a person's health more than smoking, drinking or lack of exercise, a Statistics Canada study. SOLUTION- OW and ODSP will pay
clients up to $250.00 monthly for dietary supplements.. this is something which OW does not tell their clients is available
to them, make this known to clients, there is 6 pages of dietary subsidies, for instance page 3 allows..$131 for a gluten
free diet, this money would solve a lot ill-health that one experiences on the street. NEED:7) continuity(cohesion) of services ( often many
outreach teams but with insufficient emergency help) a) sleeping bags b) toiletries c) Y day passes. SOLUTION outreach teams need to
co-ordinate with each other and provide realistic items….. In summer street people need sun protection, bug repellant
Lastly we need 1) results 2) A forum for input 3) #'s 1 & 2 ongoing.
We cannot be 'swept under the mat'!
Mike: First
let me thank you so very much for your thoughtful and insightful presentation yesterday. You put a face on our
street population that challenges stereotypes and generalizations. You did an amazing job and you should be incredibly
proud.

a great job you did today.

Dear Elaine Moore 30/5/05
I understand that the homelessness meetings are your brainchild. Thanks, it gives street people some little
hope in their lives of improved conditions. I believe I already see results. There seemed to be more focus by the provider
segment at the John Howard breakfast Tuesday May 30th. We were even queried as to how they might improve services, so that
is a real change. The meeting and ramifications have been on everyones lips ever since. Today I wish to ask you personally,
that in your position, is there any hope that city council could look at my one proposal, which is to bring about a bylaw
amendment to the " Inn-keepers law"... this law refers to anyone in a dwelling where a bathroom or kitchen are shared. Rooming
house law. In my speech and accompanying document (amended version included below) I alluded to the horrors encountered
by most everyone on OW or ODSP in rooming houses, as they cannot afford private dwellings ( usually $750.00+). They have
no rights, which we can handle up to the point of our non-returned belongings and/or our pre-paid rent deposits. My idea
is simple. The landlord must submit some document the next day at the bylaw office indicating money and belongings were returned.
I'm sure there are other ways to do it, just as long as the landlord is somehow accountable for his actions. I have helped
countless people over 30 years trying to deal with this one issue. Most never see the money or belongings again. Can we do
something about this?

The Ten
Essentials What Your Community Needs to Do to End Homelessness
The National Alliance to End Homelessness has created the following checklist
as a guide to help communities identify the minimum requirements for an effective permanent solution to prevent and end homelessness. The
essentials are based on the Alliance's Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness, which draws from over twenty years of research and
experience with communities around the country. No essential is more important than another. All require participation from
every sector of the community.PLANYour community has a set of strategies focused on ending homelessness. A wide range
of players (government programs, elected officials, homeless providers, etc.) has made funding and implementation commitments
to these strategies. (more...)DATAYour community has a homelessness management information
system that can be analyzed to assess how long people are homeless, what their needs are, what the causes of homelessness
are, how people interact with mainstream systems of care, the effectiveness of interventions, and the number of homeless people.
(more...)EMERGENCY PREVENTIONYour community has in place an emergency
homelessness prevention program that includes rent/mortgage/utility assistance, case management, landlord/lender intervention,
and other strategies to prevent eviction and homelessness. (more...)SYSTEMS PREVENTIONI. Mainstream programs (mental health,
substance abuse, TANF, child welfare, etc.) that provide care and services to low-income people consistently assess and respond
to their housing needs. (more...)II. There is placement in stable housing for all people being released from
public institutions. (more...)OUTREACH Your community has an outreach and engagement
system designed to reduce barriers and encourage homeless people so that they enter appropriate housing (including safe havens)
linked with appropriate services. (more...)SHORTEN HOMELESSNESSThe shelter and transitional housing
system in your community is organized to reduce or minimize the length of time people remain homeless, and the number of times
they become homeless. Outcome measures will be key to this effort. (more...)RAPID RE-HOUSINGYour community has skilled housing search
and housing placement services available to rapidly re-house all people losing their housing or who are homeless and who want
permanent housing. (more...)SERVICESWhen households are re-housed, they have rapid
access to funded services, and mainstream programs provide the bulk of these services. (more...)PERMANENT HOUSINGI. Your community has a sufficient supply
of permanent supportive housing to meet the needs of all chronically homeless people. (more...)II. Your community is implementing a plan to fully address the permanent
housing needs of extremely low-income people. (more...)INCOMEWhen it is necessary in order to obtain housing,
your community assists homeless people to secure enough income to afford rent, by rapidly linking them with employment and/or
benefits. It also connects them to opportunities for increasing their incomes after housing placement (opportunities provided
primarily by mainstream programs). (more...)

Dear Mr. Bryant
RE: Refusal by Madame Justice Olah of the Barrie,
Ontario Court to allow media to
attend court or to present arguments for attendance
On the morning of Monday June 20, 2005, in courtroom
#12 of the Barrie, Ontario Court, Madame
Justice Olah ordered representatives of two media
organizations out of her courtroom. Justice Olah
stated that members of the media had to apply
for a motion in order to attend her court and that
because no motion had been made previously, media
would not be allowed in her court.
Furthermore, even though media representatives
present in the court requested the opportunity to
present arguments to the judge, Justice Olah refused
to allow media representatives to make
arguments and threatened media representatives
with the use of police force if they did not leave
her court immediately. To make matters even worse,
just today we were notified that one of the
parties to the court action, was advised by court
staff that Justice Olah had ordered that court
transcripts in this case were not to be released.
Preventing parties from having transcripts of their
own court hearing and barring the media from attending
any hearing is a serious breach of the most
fundamental principles of justice and the democratic
rights of citizens in this country to be allowed
“due process.”
What was also highly unusual about this situation
was that immediately before Justice Olah ordered
the media out of the court, the lawyers went back
into the Judge’s chambers with the Judge for
approximately a 45 minute private meeting prior
to the court commencing. Immediately after this
private meeting, Justice Olah entered the courtroom
and ordered the media out of the court as her
first course of business. The court hearing was
scheduled to start at 9:00 am but the judge did not
Page 2 of 3
"The Citizens shall fight and the Citizens shall
be right" - Sir Randolph Churchill
enter the court until 10:35 am. From the events
in the court, it appeared as if the judge had already
been advised of media presence and came into the
court with her mind already made up that she
was going to order the media out of the hearing.
The hearing involved a 13-year-old child and members
of her family who had reported being
threatened and terrorized by unlicensed workers
from the York and Simcoe Children’s Aid
Societies. Unlicensed workers had requested that
the girl’s father be found in contempt of court for
basically not cooperating with the CAS to turn
in his daughter back to the CAS after his daughter
had previously reported being threatened and abused
by the CAS workers. The girl at the focus of
this hearing had specifically requested the presence
of media in the court because she was highly
distrustful of authorities, based on her experience
to date with the CAS and police.
Due to a number of similar complaints by other
children and parents in this region about the same
two CAS agencies involved (some testimony is on
videotape), we felt that the public’s interest was
at stake and that the actions of the CAS agencies
and their unlicensed workers had to be monitored
for the purposes of protecting the public’s
interest in the administration of justice. Documentation
supplied to us by more than one family appeared
to support claims that a pattern of abuse of power
and authority by unlicensed CAS workers was a
problem in this region.
It has been a longstanding tradition enshrined
in law that members of the media have the right to
attend court, except in the rarest of situations
where compelling evidence would show that the
presence of the media will cause specific harm
to a child. This was certainly not the case in
Madame Justice Olah’s court, especially
since the girl, herself, requested the presence of the media
to help protect herself and her family from further
abuse by CAS and its workers.
At this time, we would kindly request your help
to ensure that the media continue to have access to
the courts as part of their duty to protect the
public’s interest. Due to the fact that the hearing on the
June 20, 2005 was adjourned until June 30, 2005
in Collingwood, Ontario, we will be attending
Justice Olah’s court again on that day.
We would very much appreciate your assistance to help
ensure that the media’s right under law
to attend court hearings is respected by Justice Olah.
In reference to the presence of the media in the
courts, in a statement to CP in January of this year,
you were quoted as saying, “My chief concern would be to ensure
that the justice system is as
transparent and as accessible as possible”.
Attached for your
reference is reprint of just one of
the newspaper articles which carried the story
about your announcement to make the courts as
transparent and open as possible. Back in January
of this year, you spoke publicly of lessening the
barriers between the courts and the media. Be
assured that this is deeply appreciated by the citizens
of Ontario at large.
"The Citizens shall fight and the Citizens shall
be right" - Sir Randolph Churchill
Justice Olah’s actions on June 20, 2005
do not appear to comply with the law as it is written and do
not appear to adhere to the spirit and intent
of having fewer barriers between the courts and the
media as you have publicly stated is your chief
concern.
We would kindly ask that you, as Minister, use
your authority in this matter and to take immediate
steps to ensure that the presence of the media
is respected by our courts. It would also be greatly
appreciated if you could take steps to prevent
what appears to be judicial tyranny when a judge
suddenly decides to violate the rights of every
Canadian Citizen to have access to transcripts with
regard to hearings which concern them or their
family members.
The public has a right to be informed of how CAS
agencies are conducting themselves behind the
closed doors of these child protection courts.
The father in this case should have the right to obtain
transcripts of any hearings to which he is a party.
Mr. Bryant, as the citizens of Ontario, we feel
that if there ever was an opportune moment for
you to demonstrate your commitment to make the
courts more transparent and accountable, it is
now!
Your response would be appreciated.

Protest stops traffic on Jacques Cartier bridge
|
Police have arrested a man dressed as Batman's sidekick, Robin, on the superstructure of Montreal's Jacques Cartier
Bridge. He climbed the bridge early Monday morning, and unfurled a banner demanding "parental equality."Traffic was halted
for several hours on the 3.4-kilometre bridge, which links Montreal with Longueuil on the south shore of the St. Lawrence
River. The man said he is a member of Fathers 4 Justice (F4J), which aims to "expose the injustice that the family-law industry
has become in this country, with a series of high-profile stunts and actions."The group's website says the family courts are

Restore the Tory 21.6% Cut to Welfare! Full Compensation for Ten Long Years with no Cost of Living Increase! A 40%
Increase NOW!
TEN DEMANDS FOR ACTION ON POVERTY
Welfare Policies to Keep People Housed
1. Toronto City Council must set an example by refusing to clawback
the child tax credit from Ontario Works participants.
2. Stop handing over information to the Police for 'welfare fraud'
prosecutions and establish a 2% maximum recovery rate in overpayment situations.
The City of Toronto administers the Ontario Works component
of the social assistance system. This City-run system is one in which power is used to ensure a harsh form of implementation
of the policy that exists. It denies and interrupts income and causes people to face eviction. If the present Mayor and City
Council are serious about moving in progressive social directions, they would use their power to be as liberal and generous
as possible and ensure policies that kept people housed.
These two demands are areas where this could be easily
done and would at least be a damned good start. Demand 1 calls for the City to refuse to continue to claw back the child tax
credit from families on welfare. When the federal government established this credit, the Harris Tories chose to take it back
from families on welfare. The Liberals have not undone this despicable measure.
While the City has no direct legal power to refuse to
claw back the tax credit, it is our contention that the Liberals would not dare to move against the most major municipality
in the province if it declared the claw back immoral and refused to collect it. On the contrary, it would force the claw back
to be abolished throughout Ontario. If Miller had the integrity and courage to take this action, he would succeed.
The second demand deals with the way in which the poor are persecuted
for so called 'fraud' and overpayments. People on assistance take amounts they are not entitled to because they are receiving
incomes that they can't feed themselves or their families on. Prosecute Bay Street swindlers and leave poor people alone.
We call on the City to refuse to give information to the cops that will enable them to criminalize people trying to feed their
kids. We also say that, where an administrative overpayment is being collected from someone who has received income they were
not entitled to under the harsh rules of the system, it should be City policy to keep those payments down to a maximum level
of 2%. People on sub-poverty income should not have that pittance further reduced to any major degree by a City that is supposed
to have a social reformer as its mayor.
3. Ensure that enough social, supportive and accessible housing
is built to eliminate the waiting list.
This is as basic as it comes so let's lay down the facts.
71,000 families and individuals are on a 13-year waiting list in Toronto for social housing. Those thousands of people are
working multiple jobs, going hungry, and living in rotten conditions while they wait. Thousands of homeless people pack into
shelters every night because no supportive housing is open. Accessible housing is needed dearly for those with disabilities.
HOUSING NOW.
4. Freeze all condo development in neighbourhoods where low income
housing stock is threatened with displacement.
An Anti-Condo By-Law would work like this: in any community
in the city where the vacancy rate was less than 3% - as it is in all poor communities in Toronto - development of condos
would be outlawed. Similar laws have been passed in many cities in Quebec and have helped to stop poor neighbourhoods from
being overrun by expensive rental housing for yuppies and the rich. In downtown neighbourhoods like Regent Park and Parkdale,
we see condos being built everywhere. They cause rents to go up and bars, restaurants, and supermarkets to raise their prices.
This is forcing poor people out of their neighbourhoods and into the periphery of the city, where there is less access to
community centres and other services. An Anti-Condo By-Law could slow this process down and give us time to organize to stop
the destruction of our neighbourhoods.
5. Launch a campaign to retrofit empty buildings, starting with
municipally owned 'surplus housing', and ensure the impending rental unit inspection and repair by-law before City Council
is implemented effectively and immediately.
Miller says he's launched a program to retrofit abandoned
buildings already, but it's not like we've never seen a politician take 3 years to fuck up a job that we could've done in
a matter of weeks. At OCAP squats we've had labour unions and local contractors ready to go on bringing buildings up to livable
standards. We've occupied buildings with major support and appreciation from the poor communities they stand in. Homes have
been opened where those living there are the ones who call the shots; cause they call them the best. In any case, if Miller's
program does really work, I think it's fair to say that had it not been for the hundreds of us who have marched, squatted,
and defended occupations over the last 6 years, no politician would've had the mental capacity to conceive of such a project
in the first place.
6. Inject money into shelters immediately, including shelters for
abused women and children. End all seasonal closing of shelter space. Bring the spaces up to decent, livable standards.
Shelters are not a solution to the housing crisis or homelessness,
in fact they're a barrier. Rather than provide housing for all, our government maintains a policy of keeping the poor divided.
Not only is it good enough to divide the poor by race and colour, but they've divided us between those that have housing and
those that don't. By keeping thousands on the streets and packed into shelters they make it harder for us to find common ground
even though this is an illusion. And then the City tries to act like shelters don't need money because the politicians are
about to build housing and solve the whole problem. Bullshit. We need housing but we also need people to live in safety and
dignity today. As it stands the shelters in this city are a total disgrace - they are run like prisons, maintained like dumps,
and the people who live in them are crammed in tight and treated like rejects. Due to cutbacks to shelters for abused women
and children, there is now a 4-month wait to get into one of these places. What are women wanting to escape abuse supposed
to do for 4 months? The City is allowing this violence to continue and to grow.
To make matters worse, thousands of beds get closed ever
spring and summer pushing people into the parks and under the bridges where the cops go after them. We want the shelters open
all year and with conditions that are decent. People should not be forced to sleep on floors, in bug-infested rooms, and crowded
into tiny spaces. People deserve to live with dignity now.
The Needs of Communities vs Law and Order
7. Freeze the Police budget, eliminate Community Action Policing
and put the freed up resources into meeting the real needs of communities.
Mayor Miller has already given the cops a fat pay raise.
This year they again asked for more than just about anybody else, a whopping $50 million to top up the $650 million they got
last year. Just like every other kowtowing politician, Miller has been unable to resist calls from the police for funding,
who constantly use scare tactics to keep the population fearful. But while the demand for housing and social services has
gone up over the past years, the demand for police has gone down. Here's a good example of what's going on. A friend just
found out she is being fired from her city-funded job at a service for women who are victims of domestic abuse. So while domestic
assault is the most common call the police get, the city cuts funding to services who work to prevent these assaults from
happening and gives more money to the pigs who more often than not blame the victim and can't stop assaults from happening.
When Fantino says, "If we don't get this budget raise,
there will be less officers on the street" we say, "Good." For us that means fewer officers to harass and ticket us, beat
us up, and arrest us on trumped up charges. If the cops want to cut their budget, they can do away with Community Action Policing,
where cops are dumped into poor communities to profile the poor and people of colour. They could ditch their new $50 million
shooting range. And they could toss their Chief and his $250,000/year salary. 8. A strict 'Don't Ask' policy for all City workers towards
people without status and no police resources to go into immigration enforcement in our communities.
A "Don't Ask" policy for Toronto would mean that no person
regardless of their immigration status would have to fear being reported to the immigration authorities and deported for accessing
basic services for themselves and their families anymore. As it stands, families are often unable to register their children
for school, apply for subsidized housing, call the police in an emergency situation, or even visit a doctor for fear that
their information will be passed on to immigration authorities. The current situation makes it extremely difficult for families
to settle and integrate and vastly contributes to making immigrant and refugee communities prone to increased levels of homelessness,
unemployment, and poverty. Large American cities such as New York have already legislated this exact policy. We're demanding
one in Toronto to ensure equal treatment for all.
9. Repeal all municipal by-laws that are used for 'social cleansing'
of neighbourhoods and the persecution of homeless people, such as 'camp in park without a permit'.
Homeless people, especially in the downtown core, face
a relentless drive to push them out. Low income housing stock is blocked or destroyed, hostels and drop-ins are closed or
prevented from opening, and the police and private security companies commonly harass and terrorize those on the streets to
move them out of tourist districts and downtown. One of the ways that the cops intimidate and target the homeless is by issuing
massive quantities of tickets. Many of the laws that they use for this purpose are provincial such as the infamous Safe Streets
Act. However, there are a number of municipal ordinances that are employed against people. Those who try to take refuge in
the parks at night are hit with "camp in park without a permit". People who erect shelters under places like the Gardiner
Expressway are persecuted on the basis of by-laws relating to the safety of structures (as if sleeping on a sidewalk would
be safer!). The Miller Regime must act immediately to strike down the municipal component of this edifice of harassment and
social cleansing and ensure that the drive to force out homeless people is limited insofar as it is in the power of the City
to do so.
Community Needs and Access
10. Abolish user fees and restore cuts in services in all municipal
community centres and settlement agencies.
Strong communities need a place where people of all ages can gather
for a variety of activities free of charge. If this city wants to be healthy it must fund community centres and settlement
agencies for immigrants so that people can feel part of a community network and can access the wide variety of services that
people need. More services for youth, programs for families and community events to bring neighbourhoods together - not more
cops!
I was just given another ticket
by Peels Finest FFFFF.... officers last night ..what did I do this time? No horn on my bicycle.
Winibegos were going by doing wheelies down the street, but I got a ticket for no horn ( HTAct 75(5) ) H Pure and simple
it's harrassment.
I will continue to plan and rehearse on through the weekend, as
this is an honour and of great importance for me to pull off properly
my latest idea..start off with a humourous observation from the
movie Where Buffalo's Roam starring Bill Murry about Hunter Thompson the journalist who toured the US investigating the movements going
on in the 60's..in the movie there is a scene when Henry Kissinger asks Nixon...what are we going to do about these causes
which are raising concerns for thepoor and unfortunate.. Nixon turns and says in his very Nixonesk way, cheecks flapping
'Fuck the Poor'
Of the many groups,
agencies and other interests in the room here today I see only 2 groups scatterers and gatherers... Jesus said you are either
gathering or else you most surely are scattering the bible urges us to gather together my people, to lift the down-trooden,
bind up their wounds. I urge one and all here to make sure what they really are doing. I just discovered that OW and
ODSP will pay clients up to $250.00 monthly for dietary supplements.. which they do not tell their clients is available to
them..6pages for instance..$131 for a glutten free diet for instance this money would solve a lot ill-health that one experiences
on the street...the stupid thing is it costs a lot more in the long run to ignore the poor than it does to help them
...and what will help them?
healthy food
access to hygiene ( showers clean clothes toiletries)
shelter sleeping bags tents 2 stage out of the cold no barring
unless criminally charged
end bandaid to patient mentality...subsidized self housing
end police selective harrassment/ get trained in street sensitivity/
provide a legitimate coridor of dialogue/support 9 for instance raiding homeless camp chares with drinking is actually waste
of time and paper as a) legally that is their residence b) they can't pay the ticket c) judge prosecutor time in court
d) bringing heart-ache to vulnerable people already hurting in so many ways
to see effective results
In my personal 3 minutes or whatever...and I encourage that
all be allowed speak
I will mention my part in the 1990s out of the cold program
in which Iwas the one who seconded the decision that Brampton needed a shelter. Now I see it has diverted from those
high ideals we all shared at that time. I believe a real goal that would not cost a penny is to amend the roominhouse law.
So many people end up on the street over that one law..they lose possessions rent money to slum landlords who act without
impunity it could be established that any roominghouse eviction would include a next day visit to file papers stating
refund/possessions agreement signed with tenant. Simple, just and profoundly reducing homelessness and the guaranteed
crimes that that entails.

My experience has been that it takes 3-4 months
to get signed up and I believe it has been about 2 months for you already so it may well only be another month before you
get your money. There isn't away to get an advance on your money from ODSP. Someone might be prepared to loan you a bit of
money on the strength of what is coming to you but I think that would likely have to be informal. I am not sure what kind
of document you are referring to but I can't think of anything that approaches what you want to do. The best you can do is
find someone who will loan you some money on the strength of the ODSP money that is coming to you. But I think you may get
your money in June and it may be best for you just to hang in there. You have been waiting a long time now, another month
won't matter.

Dear Mr. Craig, I was wondering if you could comment on some way funds could be released to me prior to the
"lump sum" due in August or what-have-you. OW. says it could take 6 months. I was even thinking if you
could help me create some type of document that can ensure a 'safe' loan from the banks or whoever that could be
garnished by the creditor, prior to an ODSP cheque being issued to me. There are critical issues like
therapy, transport, and devices that I need now. thanks Mike Milne

Chinese textbooks don't mention the
millions who died during Mao's "Great Leap Forward."
SHANGHAI... Some things you won't find in Chinese history textbooks: the 1989 democracy
movement, the millions who died in a famine caused by misguided communist policies or China's military attacks on India and
Vietnam. As China criticizes Japan for new textbooks that critics say minimize wartime abuses like the Japanese military
forcing Asian women into sexual slavery, Beijing's own schoolbooks have significant omissions about the communist system's
own history and relations with its neighbors. "With rising Chinese nationalism, the efforts to rewrite history, to reinterpret
history according to the demands of nationalism have become a major national pastime," said Maochun Yu, a history professor
at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Experts say China's textbooks are written to heighten a sense of national
victimhood and glorify the Communist Party that seized power in a 1949 revolution and lashes out at any threat to its rule.

30/03/05 He became world famous for one case and one phrase.
It was the O.J. Simpson murder trial and the words “If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit.”
Johnnie Cochran has passed away at 67!
The renowned lawyer made his name defending the famous and infamous, and his clients included actor Todd Bridges (attempted
murder); Tupac Shakur (weapons); Snoop Dogg (murder); and another football great, Jim Brown (rape and assault). His
so-called playing of the race card during the Simpson trial was much derided but it worked. He battled other legal members
of the star’s Dream Team, but in the end it was Cochran’s defence of the bloody glove that didn’t fit that
helped sway the jury. However, it was his work with those clients who never made the headlines that made his day. "The
clients I've cared about the most are the No Js, the ones who nobody knows," he once recalled. "People in New York and Los
Angeles, especially mothers in the African-American community, are more afraid of the police injuring or killing their children
than they are of muggers on the corner." He also became famous on another front, he was spoofed perfectly on “Seinfeld”
as a scheming lawyer always looking for an angle in the character of “Jackie Chiles”. ..."who told you to put

Erhun Candir is going
to be allowed to go home to Bolton. The 62-year-old is charged with gunning down his wife at a Brampton school last December,
as horrified staff and students looked on. He’s been accused of first degree murder, but in an almost unprecedented
ruling, a judge has decided to release him on bail until he goes to trial on the charges. People facing such serious accusations
almost never get out of jail early, but Candir won’t exactly be free. The case has even attracted the interest of P.C.
chief John Tory. "The electronic monitoring system in this province was developed for low-risk, non-violent offenders," he
notes in a statement. "This person is charged with an extremely violent and public crime." He's angry a publication ban prevents
residents from knowing the reasons for his release, and is asking the judge to reconsider the decision.
A judge(what judge)(name withheld) ruled Wednesday
that the three little girls at the heart of a transatlantic custody battle must return to Britain with their mother. The three
kids, Leah, 10, Hannah, 7, and Nicola, 5, had refused to leave their home twice before in March. The girls were born in Canada,
but the family moved to the United Kingdom for about a year and that meant it became their “habitual residence”
under international law.The father, Jonathan England, brought the children back to Canada in September to visit their sick
grandmother. What was supposed to be a 10-day visit became a permanent move when England found out his wife, Marla, was going
to leave him for another woman."I'm just trying to absorb this," England said after Wednesday’s ruling. "Even though
it's happened twice before it's still a shock and I don't think you ever get used to it. I just feel numb and incredibly devastated
and disappointed." The girls screamed and resisted when a judge ordered they return to the U.K. with their mother earlier
this month. It was a similar scene Wednesday - the young trio cried out for their dad, but this time their efforts weren't
successful.
Editor’s note There will be sadly, WITHOUT DOUBT behaviour modification

their mother. It's the second time since Friday that the girls held firm in their resolve, despite an Ontario judge's order
they return to Britain.
Dear Mr. Craig, 20/04/05
Congratulations again on your work at the tribunal. I have received a letter from welfare with April27 as the date of meeting
which in itself will be hard for me to attend ( cost and health issues), but they also want me running around getting numerous
documents that create problems. One form they want is a rental agreement with my landlord. I am on shakey ground with my landlord.
He has already told me he wants me out, this may just push him to speeding up that process. Previous tax returns are also
on the list. They have threatened not to forward my files (per ODSP order) until I have pleased their requests!
Can you advise me? Meanwhile I am in court 28/4, (I also need to swear an affidavbit of service that should have already
been filed at the court) plus I have several different doctor appointments over the next 10 days... I am strapped cash-wise
and have many pressing financial factors to deal with. I still haven't even got around to calling legal aid regarding my FRO
matter.
I tell you I can't do it all, can you intervene?

BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING...The recent memorials for the 4 RCMP cops has me worried and
'seeing red'. For instance, why was every major news service only praising the cops? The Toronto Sun for instance used up
6 pages of one issue on only one thing ...the memorial. Will they do one on the guy the RCMP shot dead needlessly
on 12/03/05...I doubt it very much. Is it just me or are the general public being forced to see through 'rose coloured
glasses'. As I read between the lines I see cops overstepping their duty. One dead cop wasn't even supposed to be there, just
thought he would 'hang out' on another mans property, who by all accounts had been harrassed to violence previously. As
I have observed, most cops love the take-down, they get some kind of sadistic thrill from overstepping their paid for purpose. Now
the call-in shows are starting and the repetetious dribble is ongoing of how wonderful these guys were.Sadly you will hear
nothing else. The callers are parroting the spew that the media has fed them. Opposing views are screened and deleted. To
me this is a very clear sign of what we are... a police state. George Orwells 1984. Proof? Well here is one small example.
I wrote a letter to the editor of the Brampton Guardian on this subject which (as I knew in advance they would not print)
was overlooked for a more valued letter (you can check their issue of Sun. 13/03/05) where a reader complained of noisey
cheering at a local hockey game. This type of thing has happened often in the past. Check out our injustice page or other
sites on police corruption, falsifying information and other perverted behaviours. I have personally witnessed police
overstepping their authority with violence, thefts and lies. The thing that worries me most is -all the media forms are mouthing
the exact same thing...whats up with that?
Veronica and Charity Bowers
On April 20, 2001, a Peruvian Air Force plane, acting in connection with U.S. anti-drug efforts, shot down a private plane,
killing 35 year old Veronica Bowers, a Christian missionary from Muskegon, Michigan, and her 7 month old infant daughter Charity.
A single bullet passed through the woman's body and into the skull of her youngster. Her husband, son, and the pilot of the
plane survived, however, pilot Kevin Donaldson suffered a crushed leg bone and severed arteries. A CIA plane had alerted the
Peruvian authorities to Bowers' plane, which appeared "suspicious." Pilot Donaldson had filed a flight plan to land in Iquitos,
Peru, but evidently the information was not passed on to the American authorities. Since the CIA did not know about the flight
in advance, the assumption was that the plane was carrying drugs, so the people aboard naturally had to be killed.

Liberals set the mark for corruption:
The Gomery Inquiry shows that the present federal government are even worse than Devine's
in Saskatchewan The Edmonton Journal Sun 20 Mar 2005 Page: A14 Section: Opinion Byline: Lorne Gunter I used to think the
Saskatchewan government of Grant Devine was the most corrupt in modern Canadian history. Now I'm not so sure. Since moving
to Montreal last month, the judicial inquiry into the Liberals' sponsorship program, headed by Justice John Gomery, has
uncovered a network of corruption so vast it tainted nearly every aspect of Ottawa's operations in Quebec in the 1990s.
It is real hard to beat the Devine government. In their scandals 21 Tory MLAs or staff members were charged and 16 convicted.
Four people served jail time, including the former deputy premier. The Saskatchewan Conservative party was forced to disband
in disgrace. Consider what Gomery has learned about the Liberals so far. Between 1994 and 2000, Ottawa, among other things,
used the Business Development Bank of Canada -- a supposedly arms-length Crown corporation -- to funnel payments to a
government-friendly television production company. Ottawa would pay the BDC hundreds of thousands of dollars, and the
bank would pass the money on to the producers so it was harder to trace the money back to the government. This is the
same federal bank pressured by then-prime minister Jean Chretien to lend more than half a million dollars to an associate
of his in an unrelated Quebec scandal -- the Grand-Mere affair. The Chretien associate did not qualify for the loan,
but Chretien wanted the bank to give it to him so he could keep open a hotel he owned next to a golf course Chretien owned.
Under direct pressure from a prime minister, the bank relented. The Gomery commission has also heard of double-billing,
over-billing, fake billing, expensive gifts, lavish trips, and even a "cigar club." It's bad enough the Adscam conspirators
were bilking Canadian taxpayers of tens of millions of dollars (the sums in Devine's scandals pale by comparison), and
diverting that money into Liberal campaigns, Liberals' friends' pockets and near-useless flag-waving events, they
were also living large on the taxpayers' dime while plotting their schemes. Monthly, sponsorship players from within the
Liberal government, the senior bureaucracy and Crown corporations would meet at fancy restaurants and private clubs
in the Ottawa area to decide who got how much from the sponsorship scandals. While determining which friendly ad agencies
to bestow commissions on and which events to grant funds, the Adscammers would eat multi-course gourmet feasts, smoke
Cuban cigars and down expensive wines -- all on our tab, too, symbolically laughing at Canadians behind their backs. Quebec
ad agencies used third-party companies to channel huge donations to the Liberal party and to prominent Liberal candidates.
Others pressured employees to donate. Still other executives made employees contribute, then reimbursed them from
company funds. Sponsorship contracts were dangled in front of ad executives as carrots for giving money to the Liberal
Party. How could they resist? Forty percent "commissions" were common under the sponsorship scheme simply for passing
on federal funds to real (if worthless) events. One executive, Jean Lafleur, handed out $31 million in federal cash over
six years, of which he and his family were allowed to pocket $12 million personally. Gilles-Andre Gosselin dispersed
$20 million and kept $8 million in just two years. In perhaps the most incestuous Adscam deal, Lafleur hired the minister
who created Adscam, David Dingwall, to lobby the federal cabinet to give more money to VIA Rail, itself an Adscam player
and recipient. In a twist of intrigue worthy of Kafka, sponsorship monies were paid to a sponsorship ad agency to
pay the sponsorship program's founder to lobby the source of sponsorship cash -- Ottawa -- for even more sponsorship money
for a Crown corporation that was already dispensing buckets of sponsorship cash. Over just seven months, Dingwall received
$133,500 from Lafleur ($19,000 a month).

Sexual exploits related in testimony against Wellington officer

Elyria-Two women testified that a Wellington, NZ police officer repeatedly made sexually
suggestive comments and harassed them at work. One woman told jurors that the officer, while on duty, was parked outside her
house early one morning. The other woman said he rubbed her breast with his elbow numerous times.

A police officer has been charged with stealing methamphetamine from the police. The 27-year-old constable
has been stood down from duty and police have notified him of a proposal to suspend. The constable was serving in the Counties
Manukau police district at the time of the alleged theft. We understand the charge relates to methamphetamine being held
as police evidence. A detective senior sergeant from the district investigated the case and the accused officer appeared in
court this month. A police spokeswoman confirmed the charge but would not comment - nor would Police Association president
Greg O'Connor.
| Retired judge to review 'sick' police culture |
|
| Sir David Tompkins |
Retired High Court judge Sir David Tompkins QC is to oversee an investigation into South Auckland's police
culture after a senior officer was convicted of assault and a judge said the police culture was "sick". Earlier this month,
Senior Sergeant Anthony Laime Solomona of Manukau-Wiri police was found guilty of assaulting a 17-year-old on the forecourt
of a Manurewa service station in February last year. Judge Bruce Davidson condemned Solomona's conduct, which also included
photographing a 15-year-old boy wearing a sign that read "I am the property of Senior Sergeant Solomona". Judge Davidson was
unamused. "The practices may be reasonably widespread, especially in the south Auckland area. In my view, the culture is as
sick as the joke," he said. The Commissioner of Police Rob Robinson today announced Sir David would oversee the investigation
into the culture in the Counties-Manukau Police District, assisted by Inspector Pieter Roozendaal from North Shore Waitakere.
In a statement, the Office of the Commissioner said the investigation's terms of reference were "to determine whether there
is evidence of a police culture that condones or encourages acts of violence or other inappropriate treatment towards prisoners,
suspects or other persons in the Counties-Manukau Police District." update...
A senior policeman appointed to help inquire into a "sick" police culture has quit the role after revelations
he was once the subject of a complaint about inappropriate behaviour. Inspector Pieter Roozendaal had been seconded from
his complaints investigation role in the North Shore/Waitakere/Rodney District to help the South Auckland inquiry, sparked
by the recent trial of Senior Sergeant Anthony Solomona.

Mayor David Miller, trying to cut wasteful spending wherever
possible, has found a major expense relating to the city’s cops. The City of Toronto has spent more than $30 million
in the past six years settling thousands of civil lawsuits against police officers.Looking for answers, Miller called for
a joint review with the Toronto Police Services Board legal staff.Vancouver, the only city Miller had the comparative figures
for, only spent a third of that on a per-capita basis. The reasons for the drastically different figures isn't known. It’s
unsure whether Vancouver residents simply have a better working relationship with their police officers, or perhaps if their
screening process for civil lawsuits is more rigorous. The Mayor hopes the study will answer where – if anywhere
– the process is unnecessarily costly.
24/03/05... 850 TO cops have signed a petition demanding the Toronto Police Association reinstate a lawyer it suspended
last month one day after he offered evidence that a high-ranking officer had "fixed" a traffic ticket. Toronto lawyer Peter
Brauti has not been given any more cop clients since mid-February. Union officials confirmed that Brauti was "temporarily"
suspended from getting new clients but did not cite reasons. Sources say the bitterly divided police union board had heated
discussions about allegations that the lawyer is too confrontational with management and internal affairs. There is speculation
that Brauti's suspension may have more to do with his written complaint to internal affairs that two junior officers say they
were asked by a superior a "superintendent or higher" to "fix" a ticket for someone.
JUNIORS UNCOMFORTABLE .. two junior cops were uncomfortable with the request, sources say, but fixed the ticket
out of fear for their careers. The two cops offered to give statements about the incident, which allegedly occurred two or
three years ago, but only if they were given immunity from prosecution, sources say. Toronto Police lawyers nixed the immunity
deal, saying the cops were duty-bound to come forward. Yesterday Brauti confirmed his suspension and that he offered to broker
evidence in the ticket-fixing allegation. He refused to name the senior cop or his exact rank. Union president Dave Wilson
is out of town for March break and was not available for comment. Wilson, however, wrote in this month's Tour of Duty union
magazine that "a very, very small group of people" wish to taint the association's reputation with "half-truths, exaggerations
and out-and-out lies." The petitions demanding Brauti's reaffirmation with the union have circulated for the past week at
Toronto Police headquarters and at divisions across the city. Sources involved in the petition drive say they expect to garner
well over 1,000 signatures that will be presented at Tuesday's annual meeting of the association. The meeting promises to
be a raucus affair that will highlight the schism between Wilson supporters and allies of former chief's son Mike McCormack,
who faces internal charges over his links with car salesman Jeff Geller
The longest investigation in Canadian history and the most expensive trial ever
held here ended on Wednesday with the acquittal of both men charged in the Air India bombing in June 1985. A Supreme Court Justice in Vancouver has cleared 58-year-old Ripudaman Singh Malik and 55-year-old
Ajaib Singh Bagri of all eight counts against them. There was very little hard evidence against either accused, and in the
end, Justice Ian Josephson simply didn’t believe the witness testimony. Malik and Bagri had been charged with first-degree
murder, attempted murder and conspiracy in the case that shocked Canadians long before 911 reminded North Americans that it
can happen here.
The case began in June 1985,
when someone planted a bomb on board the Air India jetliner. When it exploded over Ireland, all 329 passengers and crew died. Another two baggage handlers perished when a
second explosive detonated prematurely at Japan’s Narita Airport.
The mastermind of the plot, Talwinder Singh Parmar, was killed in a shootout with Indian police in 1992. A third man, Inderjit
Singh Reyat, pleaded guilty to manslaughter for his part in the downing of Flight 182. The motive was revenge on the Indian
government for its army’s 1984 raid on the Golden Temple in Amritsrar, Sikhism’s holiest shrine. For years, officials never knew who
else was involved. That changed when a protected witness stepped out of the shadows to publicly accuse the two men. She
claimed Malik confessed to her that he’d been part of the plan to smuggle two bombs on Vancouver flights that would eventually be transferred to two Air India jets. She also claimed to have had an affair with the accused, but there was no
proof it had ever taken place. Both the Crown and the defense agreed her credibility was central to the case. And in the end
it was. The judge didn’t buy what she had to say, and didn’t believe Reyat’s testimony, either, labeling
him a "liar". The judge was also critical of CSIS, Canada's spy agency, which destroyed hundreds of hours of wiretap evidence, potentially scuttling the case. There was no
other physical evidence linking Malik, a Vancouver millionaire,
or Bagri, who worked in a local sawmill. Family of the victims are haunted by the decision, wondering if the true culprits
will ever be brought to justice, there's one question they're all asking. "Who did it?" wonders Sikh community spokesman Sarwan
Singh Randhawa. "After 20 years, nobody find out who did it ... Who put the bombs on the plane? The public wants to know and
all the victim who lost their lives, they want to know.” Relatives are calling for a public inquiry into the way the
case was handled, and may launch a legal challenge to the decision.
Terrorism at 20,000 ft. WHEN: June
23, 1985.
HOW IT BEGAN:
Boeing 747 Air India Flight 182 to New
Delhi and Mumbai originating
in Vancouver leaves Toronto, picks up passengers in Montreal. 329 people on board. Most passengers Canadians of Indian descent.
WHAT
HAPPENED: Plane explodes over Ireland's
southwest coast, killing all aboard.
CAUSE: All sides agree the plane was brought down by a bomb.
SECOND
BOMB: About an hour before the blast, an explosion in some luggage at Tokyo's Narita airport kills two baggage handlers. The bag was being transferred to another Air India flight.
SUSPECTS:
Bombing linked to militants in British
Columbia's Sikh community
outraged over actions of India's government. Police link the Narita and Air India blasts.
CONVICTION: Inderjit Singh Reyat, an electrician from the
Vancouver Island community of Duncan, convicted of manslaughter in 1991 in the Narita bombing and served 10 years in prison. Charged in
2001 in the Air India bombing, Reyat pleaded guilty Feb. 10, 2003, to one count of manslaughter and was sentenced to five years in prison, in addition to time already spent in custody.
ACQUITTED:
Ajaib Singh Bagri, 55, sawmill worker from Kamloops, B.C., and
Ripudaman Singh Malik, 58, millionaire Vancouver businessman,
on multiple counts, including first-degree murder and conspiracy.
The Major Players
Ripudaman Singh
Malik: Millionaire businessman. Star witness against him said he twice confessed to her his role in the bombings. Malik
paid $50,000 to the wife of Inderjit Singh Reyat, the only man convicted in the Air India bombings, between January 1991 and
September 1996. Acquitted of all charges in Air India bombing.
Ajaib Singh Bagri: Fiery preacher and Kamloops, B.C., sawmill worker who called for the murder of 50,000 Hindu "hell dwellers" as payback for India's Hindu-led government's decision to send troops into the Golden Temple in Amritsar,
India. Acquitted of all charges in Air India bombing.
Inderjit Singh Reyat: Admitted he supplied bomb parts in
the plot to destroy Air India planes and in February 2003, received a controversial five-year
sentence for his role in the deaths of 329 people aboard Flight 182. He had already served a 10-year sentence for the Tokyo bombing that killed two baggage handlers the same day.
Talwinder Singh Parmar:
Sikh separatist militant believed to have masterminded the bombings; killed in a shootout with Indian police in the early
1990s. Had been tracked by CSIS.

Atlanta officials say a man being retried on rape and
kidnapping charges grabbed a deputy's gun and opened fire inside a courtroom Friday. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Rowland
W. Barnes, a court reporter and a deputy were killed. A second deputy was injured.
The killings come more than a week after the mother and husband of U.S.
District Judge Joan Lefkow were gunned down in Chicago. Police say DNA evidence links a man who committed suicide Wednesday
in Wisconsin to those deaths.
The suicide note by Bart Ross also included information that
may confirm his presence in Lefkow's home the day of the killings, police said. Lefkow had dismissed a medical malpractice
lawsuit Ross filed against the University of Illinois.

Federal Judge Robert Vance was killed when he opened a bomb-laden package
in his home outside Birmingham, Alabama. His wife was severely injured but survived. Walter Leroy Moody Jr. was convicted

Vietnamese suit over Agent Orange dismissed
Last Updated Thu, 10 Mar 2005 NEW YORK - A judge dismissed a lawsuit on Thursday that accused
chemical companies of committing war crimes by supplying the U.S. military with Agent Orange during the Vietnam War. The suit
was filed on behalf of about four million Vietnamese, who said they had suffered illnesses and their land had been poisoned
by Agent Orange and other herbicides sprayed by U.S. aircraft. The suit marked the first time that Vietnamese plaintiffs had
sought compensation for the effects of Agent Orange. U.S. aircraft dropped more than 80 million litres of the chemical on
the Southeast Asian country from 1962 to 1971, trying to ruin the crops and to kill the foliage that the Communist forces
were using as cover. Agent Orange contains dioxin, a highly toxic chemical that has been linked to cancer,
diabetes, birth defects, organ dysfunctions and other health problems. Thousands of U.S. war veterans receive disability
benefits related to Agent Orange. However, the judge ruled that the plaintiffs couldn't prove the herbicide caused their illnesses,
noting that there hadn't been sufficient research to draw the link.
TWELVE SUGGESTED JUSTICE SYSTEM REFORMS
by James S. Lawrence
I would like to suggest that there are some things we can do to make our criminal justice system more fair,
its actions less oppressive, its results more reliable. If you ever found yourself or a loved-one in the hands of the government,
you might very well wish that reforms like this were in place.
So, here are twelve suggestions for criminal justice system reforms:
1. Videotape police interrogations of suspects and child witnesses. In no other way can juries reliably judge
the proper weight to give such evidence when ultimately presented in court.
2. Enforce the right to jury trial, unanimous 12 person jury, and standard of proof beyond a reasonable doubt in all criminal
prosecutions.
3. End the modern role of grand juries as the government's tool of inquisition, and return them to their historic role
of judging the government's case. Allow the witnesses to have counsel and a genuine right against self-incrimination that
the government cannot get around as easily as they can now. End the long grand jury terms that keep many classes of people
off grand juries.
4. Establish a parent-child privilege, similar to the husband-wife privilege, that encourages children to confide in their
parents without fear that their secrets will be revealed, and avoids the brutal practice of forcing children against their
will to act against their parents and destroy their own families. The parent-child relationship is just as important and worthy
of protection as the husband-wife privilege.
5. Require that prosecutors turn over to the defense all information they and the police have about the case and the witnesses,
and that they do so as soon as reasonably possible, well before trial. Require that prosecutors follow the same ethical rules
as other attorneys.
6. Abandon the practice of consistently using excuses to exclude defense evidence at trial. This would include such things
as finding a defense theory "speculative" or "irrelevant." Let the defense present its theory and evidence whether the judge
agrees with it or not. Allow the jury to resume its historic role of judging the justness of a possible conviction under the
facts and circumstances of the case, so as to act as a check on runaway government power.
7. Allow a defendant the right and opportunity to complain about his attorney, fire his attorney, and be permitted to get
a new attorney, more than once if he feels it is necessary. Some limits on substitutions may be proper, but present practice
in many jurisdictions requires the defendant to be stuck with his first lawyer no matter what, even if the lawyer doesn't
take the time to investigate, or is deliberately malicious, or insists his client plead guilty when the client insists he
is innocent.
8. Reinstate the rule that on appeal, an error is not "harmless error" unless harmless beyond a reasonable doubt. Many
unfair trial practices are upheld because of dubious guesswork that the error probably didn't make any difference. By that
standard, you may as well not have a trial at all, because the defendant would probably be convicted anyway.
9. On appeal and habeas corpus, eliminate the whole pack of legal technicalities such as finality, time limits, deferential
standards of review, etc. that require courts to refuse to hear legal claims presented by people who have been convicted.
The parade of arbitrary technicalities, beginning with the U.S. Supreme Court case of Stone v. Powell (1976), prevent many
prisoners from having their legal issues fairly considered and having justice done.
10. End drug prohibition, which has never worked anyway, and redirect precious resources to protecting citizens against
actual crime. This will also end the practice of informantism, where any crime can be excused or reduced as long as
the criminal is willing to accuse someone else of involvement with drugs, which often leads to injustice. Society will not
be harmed by ending prohibition as many high ranking government leaders are former drug users, and if they could be permitted
to live their lives without arrest and imprisonment without serious damage to society, so can the people unlucky enough to
have gotten caught. Society will gain real benefits because drug prohibition causes significant increases in crime and violence,
much as alcohol prohibition did, and because violent police raids will slow to a trickle, directed only against real crime.Without
the oppression of drug prohibition, youth and minorities will not be so much a constant focus for police harassment, and a
violent angry youth culture will have less place to take root.
11. Discard the legal fiction that forfeiture is not punishment, and allow forfeitures only in connection with conviction
for a crime. Require the government to prove the facts, instead of requiring the citizen to prove he is innocent. Stop practice
of making forfeiture victim pay large sum of money and follow complicated procedures in order to challenge forfeiture. End
laws that say that innocent owners can be forced to forfeit property. By ending drug forfeitures, we will remove the major
excuse and financial incentive for police to spend their evenings stopping large numbers of cars (as is routinely done in
some areas), seizing money from helpless motorists (especially out-of-state motorists) for forfeitures that fund their police
departments, until they find a motorist with drugs to arrest.
12. Reverse the practice of making so many things new federal crimes. Reduce federal criminal jurisdiction to its proper
constitutional scope, punishing such things as treason, counterfeiting, and piracy on the high seas, and have the states exercise
general police powers. Enforce Ninth Amendment limits on government power. Maintain a federal presence that will ensure that
states and localities treat people fairly and constitutionally.

I would like your office to give top priority to a great wrong that has been perpetrated on that the most vulnerable
and destitute people of our culture. I was impressed by your governments ability to turn promise into action for the very
vocal voters concerns over auto insurance, but what of the people who not only can’t afford car insurance, but bread.
Welfare provides each compliant recipient with $520 monthly. Street beggars make more than this! I would request that any
reader of this document try to budget a way to live on this amount.
I have called my local MPP with my concerns and was given what I consider the cold shoulder treatment filled
with political excuses that any reasonable thinking person could see as simply goobledy-goop.
I am proposing a protest outside MPP offices to shame these over-paid
self-serving hypocrites to amend their ways, do what is right and previously promised, and raise welfare to a realistic amount.
I also request that they adopt some political vision on affordable housing.

To the chief of police, Noel Catney ,
Dear Mr. Catney,
It was with deep regret that I heard about the recent arrest of Officer Dopp. Regret and disgust. Regret and disgust but
not surprise. Not at all! It is very clear to me that this incident is more than just the misdeeds of one alleged pervert.
The structure of your entire system is at fault, in that you have no allowance for citizen input. For instance,
Officer Dopp has been a rogue officer for a long time, but you have no adequate overseeing system that can keep effectively
your staff in line. Bad cops do not just wake up one day and self destruct, they corrupt themselves gradually. There has been
a trail of misdeeds perpetrated by this steadily disintegrating officer spanning at least several years that I know of!
However, it is your system that protects these wayward officers from the normal procedures that would ordinarily keep anti-social
behaviours in check. Yes, you have a complaint department, but how can you honestly believe that that is an effective
tool? Quite frankly, your complaint department is woefully inadequate, and it is ridiculous to suggest that people complaining
about cops should seek for the police to help. If you believe this, then perhaps we should also trust penitentiary inmates
to self release when they determine that they are rehabilitated. Your complaint department also refuses to accept third party
complaints which I personally find absurd. For instance I have witnessed Peel cops abusing citizens, and
while I am not the target of the abuse, I have tried to report the abuse, however, there is no department to take my complaint.
Should there not be some department that can look into these allegations observed by citizens? Many people have complaints
about police behaviour; however, some are scared to complain due to a fear of retaliation (quite realistic), some don’t
trust the police to investigate fully, or will subvert the truth (as frequently does happen). Some don’t even know that
you have a complaint department, and some are just unable to file a complaint (many abused and/or disabled fall into this
category). At any rate your complaint department is far less than adequate or appropriate and I assure you, is guilty
of all of these claims. Interestingly, Jesus, in the New Testament, ordered officers not to overstep the bounds of their duty,
yet you seem to encourage it but the inadequate monitoring of police conduct! For instance, I have tried in the past to lodge
complaints about officer Dopp (as I possess third party knowledge of his failures) but been refused to even file a complaint.
While on the topic of improper policing, you have a room in the basement of 22 division called the interrogation room.
There is no audio or video surveillance in that room. Why? You know why, and what goes on in there. People get beat up in
there. Regularly. I believe having this room is a key element in police thinking that they are above the law.
In fact by supplying this room you are encouraging a blind eye condition to what goes on, even in your own building!
I also believe that giving rogue officers full pay while under suspension is simply perverted. While it would be unfair
if the officer is innocent, half pay with the rest in trust until the officer is cleared of charges would be more appropriate.
I don’t suspect that you will actually do anything about it; I just must say that this too, is perverted.
In conclusion I request a full investigation into the on-duty activities of officer Dopp over the last several years, and
I request a copy of any such report that can be made available to me. I also request some response to my several suggestions.

To Dale Goldhawk, 6/7/04
Dear Sir,
Outlined below is an itemizing of my problem.
I hope to obtain your help with a serious complaint, which started out as a simple land severance, but
turned out to be a big money grab by lawyers, an engineer, the Town and the Region of Halton Hills, the insurance company,
and the bank. Realistically I believe the Region should be able to offer me a contract to reimburse me, should others join
my line, as they intimated many years ago.
CASE PROFILE
- Originally in 1989 I was requested by the Town of Halton Hills to install a sewer line for my property due
to my request for a land severance. The job took until 1995 to be done. Sewer hook-up took until 1996 at a final total cost
of $160,553.37 ( including lawyers fees etc.). Even in 2000 there were ongoing problems
with the sewer installation.
- Clipsham Consulting Engineers drew the original plans, I was billed $9,230.00, though originally our agreement
was for $1,005.00. Adding insult to injury, their plans were never even implemented.
- There was a $50,000.00 mortgage taken out by me at the Region request. This money was held by the Region.
This money, which I borrowed at 8.5% and was paid only 2% interest by theRegion. They held this money from the years 1992-2000!.
- Clipsham plans were not accepted by the Town for the completion of the job and I had to hire A. Scranda Surveying.
Finally I got the job done by Gamsby Engineering at great additional costs.
- The Region had trouble with the job, too much time was wasted and further costs were involved.
- There was also a period of time when I had no sewer services.
- I believe I was not properly advised or protected by my legal counsel
- I am still not satisfied and believe I was taken advantage of by the Town, the Region, and the Clipsom engineers.
- It should be noted that I am a senior citizen, well into my seventies when this undertaking began. It has
proven to be horribly draining, both emotionally and financially.
QUESTIONABLE OUTCOMES
- The Town of Halton Hills and the Region have stated that I should be reimbursed should others join my line. However,
they have not been receptive to my requests for a legal agreement on this. There has been no attempt to reimburse me as at
least one other home has joined my sewer line.
- Why did The Town (on 28/4/95) demand I pay Clipsham (who had not successfully submitted approvable plans) before negotiations
continue. This seems to reinforce my idea of collusion.
- Everyone involved in "my severance nightmare", work at this stuff professionally, all except myself. If
anyone had been straight forward enough to tell me that it would take years, cost what it did, cause endless sleepless nights
and hours of worrying, I would have never even tried to sell a parcel of my land… I would have been happier to just
give it away.
The whole issue smells of some kind of a professional collusion; how many other taxpayers have suffered the
same fate as myself? Even the insurance should have been recovered for me.
These statements are written to you as I request your help to get some kind of a review my documents and to
help me overcome this injustice.
Sincerely
Frank Pfingstl

"That appeal attracted thousands of
supporters, and started a worldwide human rights movement.
"The catalyst for the original
campaign was Mr. Benenson's sense of outrage after reading an article about the arrest and imprisonment of two students in
a cafe in Lisbon, Portugal, who had drunk a toast to liberty," the Web site said.
" From there came a worldwide movement
for human rights and in its midst an international organization -- Amnesty International -- which has taken up the cases of
many thousands of victims of human rights violations and inspired millions to human rights defense the world round." Irene Khan, Secretary General of Amnesty International,
was quoted as calling Benenson's life "a courageous testament to his visionary commitment to fight injustice around the world.Amnesty International will be holding a public
memorial service and there will be private ceremony for family members. There will be no funeral service. The group calls itself "the world's largest independent
human rights organization, with more than 1.8 million members and committed supporters worldwide."Locally in TO they can be reached at416-929-0488

From: Mike Milne Subject:
liberal promises First written but not received by the Sun: May 20, 2004 4:01:53 PM
I wouild like to comment on your
article "crooks & liars" referring to our present provincial Liberal government. It just so happens that I voted
Liberal in the last election due to their promise that welfare rateswould receive an increase. Presently the rate
is $ 520 monthly dropped from something like $650 back in 1994.. It was decried by Liberals to be wholly inadequate as opposition,
but now that they are in power I can't get them to even respond to my letters. Please respond, mike.
Copy of letter sent to all liberal
sources, but with no answers back. Could you please forward this until you get an answer? ....mike 27/10/04
To whom it may concern: letter to Ont. mpp's written Jan/04 still(2/05) no response
I am still waiting for a response to my
query on the promise your party made to bring welfare to a responsible level, such as back in the 1980's. In opposition
Mr. McGuinty decried conservatives for lowering welfare back in the early 1990's. Well now, we are well into 2004 and your
government has done nothing for the poor .Shame on you, not only for ignoring your own promises but for ignoring genuine,
heartfelt concerns such as mine over this apparant disparity. I have written several times and have still not received an
answer..... Mike Milne
Pervert priest Charles MacDonald had numerous sex assault charges dismissed this week...the judge cited that the cases
had taken too long to come to trial. In all it was part of 114 charges against 15 men that ended with only one conviction.

Attention to Police Complaint Bureau
On Tuesday Sept. 9/03 I was minding my own business walking on Main St. at Church, when police approached me. I believe
they went too far with their actions and did not attempt to treat me with any respect as a human being nor did they observe
any of my civil rights.
I believe the police are getting out of hand in their approach with people, and I ask for an apology and a reprimand of
these officers. I believe your officers need to be better trained in the basic rights of citizens, afford citizens their rights,
and lose the very poor and Neanderthal attitude they carry of the " us versus them" mentality.
Sincerely,
Geoffrey Dummler
Attention to News Editor 10/9/03
I find it disturbing that police have no avenue for general complaints. I have witnessed police harassing innocent citizens
with prolonged questioning and searching people for no apparent reason. When I attempted to file a general complaint about
police behaviour I was told they do not accept such complaints What blind arrogance! Have they forgotten they are merely extensions
of the greater public will?
The favorite phrase that they repetitively use when harassing people is " we are looking for someone that matches your
description". They never produce proof of this; we must OBEY and be stripped of our rights and in some cases I know of even
clothing, as they pervert the institution of policing. Most of the people they target are mentally challenged; people who
have no ability to properly stand up for their rights. Others are afraid to stand up to this police bullying. To serve
and protect seems to now mean " To serve and protect our own self interests". |
Hi
Mike
It
is always a pleasure for me to assist you not forgetting that I need to survive too. Tino is staying in my car for
too long. I am uncomfortable sharing the thought of his suffering and cold. I have never been homeless and cannot survive
on the street, I cannot share his way of living. I hope to work and fight poverty but age is creeping up. I hope
we could work something out to survive this winter. Anyway I pray God will provide for us as always . I am writing a poem in protest to all bad leadership
and terrorist that have wage wars and suffering on all humanity and damaged our beautiful planet. It is called Extreame.
Excused me Mike if my spelling is wrong for I have never attend a spelling class in my youth. However I hope that God
will pursuade the leaders of the world to made amends and eliminate the protracted agony of our people and this wonderful world.
Amen
